Our traditional Scottish porridge stirrers are hand-carved from one piece of sustainably sourced Scottish cherry wood. We love the tactile nature of the hand-turned knobbly ends and the gentle, meditative process of using these to stir not just oats, but soups and stews, too. Each one is coated in linseed oil to prolong its life.
Made by volunteers at Fruitful Woods in Edinburgh (see our Makers page for more information).
Due to the organic materials and handmade nature of these items, some natural variation in grain, colour and size may occur. Please note that the shapes and sizes of the carved patterned ends do vary from spurtle to spurtle. If you have specific requirements please contact us. Images depict the item as accurately as possible.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS Our spurtles will last longer if cleaned gently with a damp sponge or cloth. They are oiled for protection and to stop warping, but should never be left in water or put in the dishwasher. If yours starts to dry out, another coat of linseed oil will prolong its life. Best stored out of direct sunlight.
