These delicate porcelain tea light holders are shaped by hand and marked with found objects, from wooden printing blocks to sea shells. To enhance their translucency, paper is mixed with the porcelain to create an extra thin clay, allowing the candle light to shine through (creating a warm illumination that can’t be seen with standard clay). The inside are covered with transparent stoneware glaze, which means they can also be used as a vase or trinket pot.
Each one is shaped and patterned by volunteers at Studio 306 in north London (see our Makers page for more details). We have five patterns – and they look fantastic in sets of three.
Due to the handmade nature of these items, there may be some natural variation in colour or shape. Images depict the item as accurately as possible but heights may vary slightly and the patterns reflect a wabi-sabi approach to design – in which there is beauty in imperfection.
