    Going with the grain

Natural wood products are well-known for bringing warmth and texture to your home. But when the wood is sourced from overseas, it's not always possible to know whether it's been grown or processed sustainably, or whether that wood could have been more constructively used for the benefit of local communities living near its origin.

At Aerende, we think transparent sourcing of all of our materials is vital if we are to be able to call our products truly ethical. All of our wooden items come from British trees, usually growing on the sites where our woodcrafters are transforming them into beautiful things. Rather than decimating whole forests, trees are managed responsibly and the wooden used is often felled as a result of necessary coppicing and maintenance, enabling the tree to thrive while providing us with a rich source of beautiful material for our makers to work with. This hyper-local chop-and-shape method is completely carbon neutral and reminds us of the rich heritage of wood carving in the UK. Here is an overview of some of our wooden items, designed to bring feel-good to your home and to your heart.
